LIFE UPDATE (gastroenteritis sucks).

Hey everyone!
I miss all of you so much- and I apologize for being MIA and slacking on my blog...
I have a good reason, I swear. I have been sick 4 times since January.
I had an ear infection (which was really painful), strep throat, colds and coughs, and now I have gastroenteritis... ugh!
It all began on Thursday March 18th (little over a week ago). I started feeling a little fluish after teaching my jazz dance class for kids. I went home and just prayed it was a 24hr thing... nope!
Friday, I felt worse; stomach flu symptoms like nausea, diarrhea, and a horrible headache. Saturday got pretty bad and my Nana had to take care of me as if I was a little girl again. Sunday I got worse and was sweating in my sleep (literally drenched). MONDAY morning I woke up feeling as if I was going to PASS OUT (and I was laying down); I knew I was dehydrated, my head was POUNDING it made me even more nauseated and the worst part was my muscles felt as if they were stretching to the point of straining them (even if I curled up in a ball, I had excruciating muscle pains that would NOT go away). I told Nana to take me to the ER, I couldn't handle it! My mum came over and took me. I had 3 IV bags of fluids, pain meds, etc. I have never been to the ER... and I have no health insurance. I hate to say it but the whole time I was stressing about how the heck I was going to pay for this... it sucks. The doctor said my white blood cell count was too high, so I must have an infection somewhere in my body. He suggested a CAT (or CT) Scan for my stomach area... I almost denied it because I was so worried about the money (stupid, I know). Good thing I didn't because the doc said my colon is inflamed and infected (GASTROENTERITIS). Has anyone had this?? It is day 9 and I am just starting to feel a LITTLE bit better (enough to go on the computer). The headaches are absolutely sickening horrible, the diarrhea doesn't stop, and my muscles are so sore feeling *as if they're being stretched enough to snap*... I just want to know if anyone else has had this, and if so for how long? I haven't been able to eat solid food for a week and I am going nuts having to stay in bed (looking at the computer or tv HURTS my head)!
Okay, enough complaining- what have I taken from this?
I have decided to take MUCH better care of my body...
I quit smoking!
(I've never quit or even attempt to quit- so this is a big deal for me)... and it's been 9 days!
I just decided it was time... anyone have any advice on quitting smoking??
Also, I will be taking a crap load of vitamins, drinking more water, and getting more active.
I figure, why have I been so bad to my body? I treat it like crap, my immune system is down and I keep getting sick- well, NO MORE! I have to do something about it.
Okay. So I hope everyone is doing well (HEALTH IS REALLY EVERYTHING)!!!
Love and Light

I hope you feel better dear. On the quitting smoking, I think it all depends on people. I hear some find it easier to quit than others. I think if you can find something to distract you from the cravings, you can do it. Good luck!

Aww Whit! I hope you get better soon! I've had a mild case of gastroenteritis before, and it SUCKED! I feel your pain, but it seems like your case is much more severe! :(

But yay for quitting smoking! That's something I should do too! LOL! Pls get lots of rest, and take your medicines. I found that a heating pad and hot tea were my best friends during my time.

Aww, I hope you feel better really soon. As far as quitting smoking, I HIGHLY recommend Chantix. I was a pack a day smoker for 7 yrs. I took Chantix for about 2 months, and was able to quit effortlessly. I have never gone back, and that was 2 years ago! Good luck!
