Skin Free Review

About Skin Free:

All products distributed by Blue Ridge Gypsy Studio™ are designed and formulated by owner and practicing pharmacist, Julie Hilton, who has over 30 years experience in compounding and natural skin care. “I started the Studio in 2000 when my husband and I moved to the Blue Ridge of Virginia. Our friends were calling us “gypsies”, so the name evolved naturally.”

“Working in a typical retail pharmacy setting, I was constantly frustrated when asked to recommend products for patients with difficult skin problems, especially those with fragrance allergies. I recognized a void in the market and knew that I could offer effective and affordable products to fill it. Atopic dermatitis, eczema, and psoriasis are life-long conditions and need to be addressed for the long term. Patients with diabetes or renal disease, pregnant women, babies, the elderly, and patients treated with radiation therapy can all benefit from quality natural products. Even people who just have dry, sensitive skin can appreciate wholesome natural skincare products.”

“Since I personally suffer from chronic allergies and eczema, I understand that it is very important for people with these conditions to maintain the integrity of their skin and reduce their exposure to antigens to help prevent acute outbreaks. These diseases can be quite debilitating and cause increase depression, work loss, and pain."

Naturally occurring vegetable oils and butters contain indigenous nutrients, antioxidants, non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS), and antibacterial agents that petroleum-based oils just don’t have. Natural oils absorb into the skin and do not feel greasy. They also come from replenishable sources, which is a great environmental concern.

Whipped Tamanu Body Butter

The Polynesians discovered the healing and protective properties of Tamanu oil centuries ago. When the French arrived in Polynesia, they were fascinated by the islanders use of this oil for everything from minor skin abrasions to severe sunburn, and major skin infections.

French scientists discovered the oil contains a unique fatty acid that stimulates skin growth. Tamanu also possesses antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

We have combined the delicious Tamanu oil with Organic Extra Virgin Olive and rich Shea to make a remarkable whipped body butter to help sun-damaged skin, eczema, psoriasis, and reduce scarring.

Tips for UseIs your skin out in the weather and exposed to a lot of sun and wind? Use this wonderfully rich body butter to help sooth, heal, and renew.

Corrective Face Nectar

Our Corrective Face Nectar is a special blend of incredible healing oils including Squalane, Tamanu, Sweet Almond, Carrot Seed, Evening Primrose, and Virgin Olive. Known for their soothing, regenerative, and anti-inflammatory properties, in combination these oils become a super power that can help reduce capillaries and scarring, prevent wrinkles, help heal eczema, acne, reverse sun damage, and stop visible signs of aging.

This product does contain a natural form of retinoic acid found in carrot seeds.Pregnant women should refrain from using this product to avoid any possible harm to their unborn child.

Tips for Use: Use just a drop or two at bedtime until you see the desired effects. Do not use during the day as the natural retinoic acid in carrot seed oil may increase your risk of sunburn.

Niaouli Scrub for Blemish Prone Skin

Use our new Niaouli Scrub for Blemish Prone Skin daily or once a week as needed to gently remove excess oil, minimize pores, and remove dull, dead skin cells. Healing Organic Niaouli essential oil is a first cousin to Tea Tree, but we prefer it’s bright forest like aroma.

Most facial scrubs found on the market today are made of artificial chemical gels. We took our Skin Free Sweet and Smooth Sugar Scrub concept and added our wonderful new all natural Skin Free Extra Moisturizing Liquid Soap, some very fine cosmetic grade pumice, and our favorite antibacterial essential oil, Niaouli, to make a powerful and effective scrub for blemish prone skin.

The end result of using this great new formulation is rejuvenated, glowing skin with fewer problem areas. This product makes your skin feel velvety and clean, not dried out, burning and itching. We added just a touch of light Organic Macadamia nut oil and some anti-inflammatory Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil to allow your skin to be moisturized while you clean out overworked pores.

One of the problems with stripping away all oils from you skin is that you over-stimulate the natural oil producing cycle of your skin. It can’t be stressed enough how important it is to continue to moisturize your skin while you are fighting blemishes. You want to keep your skin’s oil cycle balanced to promote healthy skin, prevent wrinkles, and not have too much oil generated.

Clogged pores are caused by too much oil, which is oxidized at the skin’s surface and hardens. Add this to trapped bacteria and you have a blemish in the making. The trick is to keep pores clear of excess oils and free from infection. Using an exfoliating scrub like this one is the perfect way to do that.
